This policy describes how information is handled when you visit guitalele.org, use its music tools, contact us or make a voluntary contribution. For privacy questions, contact support@guitalele.org.
The tuner and your microphone
The tuner requests microphone permission when you start it. Audio is analysed in your browser to estimate pitch. The website does not record or upload this audio to our server, Google Analytics or Stripe. You can stop the microphone using the tuner controls or revoke permission in your browser settings.
Website usage and cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand visits and interactions with the tuner, chord library and interactive fretboard. When enabled on the public website, Analytics loads automatically. It may use cookies and process information such as page visits, browser and device details, online identifiers and approximate location. We do not send microphone audio or the free text you type into the chord search as custom analytics events.
Our Analytics configuration disables Google signals and advertising personalization signals. You can manage cookies and tracking controls in your browser, or use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. Blocking cookies alone may not prevent every analytics request. Voluntary contributions
Stripe processes contributions made through our support page. Payment and billing information is provided to Stripe. We do not receive full card numbers or security codes. We may access contribution records through Stripe, including the amount, currency, date, payment status and contact or billing details supplied during payment, to handle questions, reconcile contributions and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations.
Stripe's embedded button and payment pages may process device information and use cookies for payment functionality, security and fraud prevention. See Stripe's privacy policy. Contributions are optional and do not change access to the free music tools.
Email and technical information
If you email us, we receive your address, message and any information you choose to include. We use these to respond and follow up on your request. Please do not send passwords, full card details or other unnecessary sensitive information.
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process IP addresses, request times, requested URLs and error information to deliver the website, investigate failures and protect it from abuse. External resources, including the Bootstrap files served by jsDelivr, require your browser to connect to their providers, which can receive technical connection information.
Providers, retention and international processing
Information may be handled by hosting, email, analytics and payment providers for the purposes described above. Their infrastructure may operate outside your country. Provider policies and settings govern their processing and retention. We keep information we control for as long as needed for the relevant purpose, including resolving requests and meeting applicable legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it when appropriate.
Your questions and choices
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict its use. Email support@guitalele.org to make a request. We may need to verify your identity and some records may need to be retained where legally required. For information controlled independently by Google or Stripe, their privacy pages explain how to contact them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the website or its data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
